A bookseller by the name of Alexander Fox leaves the United States after a personal tragedy to begin a new life abroad. The tiny country in which he finds himself – Andorra – is an idyllic escape, offering Alexander the chance to reinvent himself.Settling into its grand (and only) hotel, he quickly becomes entangled with the ever-present locals. But the mystery of his origin deepens. An Australian couple take an unsettling interest in the attractive newcomer, and Andorra’s matriarch seems to recall him from long ago. When a woman’s body is found almost immediately upon his arrival, the local lieutenant becomes strangely convinced that Alexander is responsible. He soon finds himself in a crisis of conscience and identity, and in a foreign country that he may not be able to escape from.
