Synopsis
The Desheng Station policemen are bored and frustrated, longing for guns like TV cops. When a rabid dog bites a drunkard, policeman Yang Guoli is ordered to exterminate all dogs in his Beijing district. The unenviable task brings everyone’s stress level to a breaking point, in a hilarious escalation from the grotesque to the absurd. In this highly original cop flick, the enemy is not the usual gangster but the social system itself.
Press
"An allegory of the growing impotence of the once feared police force as the country moves towards individual, market-based freedoms."
