Press
"Full of surprises and sharp as an ice pick."
Hollywood Reporter
"Ravishing…nuanced and compelling to watch… There are moments when FAR NORTH achieves the visionary, timeless quality of a folk tale. The film looks (and sounds) stunning."
Screen International
"A strong, simple human story economically told with minimal dialogue and breathtaking cinematography. The film casts an inexorable spell and is always moving, right up until the shocking finale… Kapadia doesn’t put a foot wrong."
Première
"This is reassuring proof that (Kapadia) has not sold out…visual and aural craftsmanship, a tendency to let the landscape do most of the talking, and a parable-like quality that is apparent from the outset…committed realism and fantastical narrative."
The Guardian
"A dazzlingly effective folk tale set against a timeless, unforgiving landscape…with breathtaking cinematography from Roman Osin, this tragic tale casts a hauntingly affective spell."
Time Out
"A magnificent thriller."
The Times
"The shock ending establishes Kapadia as one of our most interesting story-tellers."
The Guardian
"A frequently exhilarating work that offers a relatively rare glimpse into a world and a way of life rarely depicted on screen….crisp and intellegent, Kapadia builds from a simple premise to an unforgettable conclusion…a brilliantly composed and distinctly otherworldly return to form from one of Britain’s brightest talents."
